Stonechat and Other Autumn Migrants

Peter Lambert wrote on the 2oth:

Good morning, with my first Stonechat of the year, a female/immature on Clendish Marsh.  This is the first autumn record I’ve had at the Marshes since 2009 – the last year Stonechat wintered on the Marshes.  A lot of passage West too, with Brambling heard overhead on three different occasions (also first of the year), Siskins, Redpolls, Skylark, Linnet, 3 groups of Redwings, Chaffinches and Meadow Pipits.  Also about 345 Starlings W, biggest group c150.

Latest Reports – Autumn here edition.

Pete Lambert wrote on Tuesday:

‘Over Tottenham Marshes early for the first time for 12 days and realised autumn was here as I soon heard my first Redwings of the autumn calling!  Later two Redwings flying around calling from trees at Clensdish Marsh too.  2 Siskins SW calling over Stonebridge Wood later, then 32 Jackdaws high SW just before 10am.  Also saw a large moth fluttering round the trees near the Pond that might have been  a Jersey Tiger’.

Good prospects for this Saturday’s Bird Survey!
