Environmental work partiesThere are regular work parties that engage with a range of tasks for improving the environment of the marshes. This work is aimed at both improving the experience for visitors and to enhance the bio-diversity of the area. Recent activities include tree planting and creating a wildflower meadow. FoTM are also actively engaged, in collaboration with Lee Valley Park, in the creation of a new wetland habitat on the banks of the Lee Navigation. See the calendar for details of forthcoming activities. |
Wildlife surveysFoTM carry out regular surveys of wildlife on the marsh. We conduct a monthly bird survey and organise regular events to discover and monitor the plants, insects and mammals that inhabit the marshes. Whether you are an experienced naturalist or just keen to learn more you will be most welcome to join in. See the calendar for forthcoming events. |
PermacultureFoTM has an active group who are in the process of developing a garden on the marshes which follows the principles of permaculture. They also organise workshops to discuss the ideas of permaculture and how they might be applied by everyone to help create a more sustainable future.
